What's New

Last Updated on February 16, 2007

Just a word to let you know of the upcoming Clearwater Junction being sponsored by Theodore Gordon Flyfishers.  If you are interested in the event, e-mail markthompson@clearwaterjunction.com

4 Hour Casting Class-With the onset of summer's heat, we all experience less exciting activity on the rivers, at least until the cooler days of early fall.  This time period can be used to the angler's advantage by learning new skills that will serve him/her well when fishing improves.  How would you like to add 15-20 feet onto your casts, enabling you to reach those rising fish that have always been just out of range?  How would you like to get longer drifts and learn how to exert the all-important line control necessary to keep those long drifts drag-free?  Maybe you would like to add single or double hauling to your skills.  How do you get rid of that particular casting problem that is making you crazy?  If any of this describes your issues, it may be beneficial to take one of our 4 hour casting classes.  Bob Rumpf, our casting instructor , truly loves casting and has spent many years studying and practicing these skills.  He is a certified casting instructor that we have watched cast an entire fly line with no effort and has made roll casts on the lawn of 80' in length.  Most importantly he is unbelievably patient and derives great pleasure when a student succeeds in learning the skill he has needed to make his fishing more successful.  Just call us to make arrangements.  Class can be done at your convenience.

New Products for 2006

We are proud to now have in the shop work by world famous artist, Michael C. Simon.  His beautiful work is never more obvious than in the original watercolor hanging in the store which was framed by Don Leyden.  Come see a few of his works.

Almost all new Simms products are available in our store including, but are not limited to: RiverTek Waders, RiverTek Boots (a wider last) etc. We have almost all of Simms new products as well as a wider range of Fishpond and the new Sage Rods.

PATAGONIA-We now have Patagonia Watermaster Waders which have a unique waist-mounted suspender adjustment in both the front and back allowing them to be worn either chest or waist high.  They are priced similar to Simms Classic Guide Waders but since we are just introducing them into the shop they are priced at 20% off.   We also have in stock the Patagonia Pack Vest which is a hybrid of a mesh vest and a tough multi-use daypack.

We are A SAGE DEALER with the Sage Casting Analyzer

The SAGE CASTING ANALYZER is now in the shop. Sage has always been dedicted to providing anglers with innovative new tools that promote enhanced performance.  HOW IT WORKS:  The Sage Casting Analyzer gathers scientific data via a rate gyro attached to the rod.  The caster makes several false casts with a fixed length of line.  The gyro gathers, records, and relays the data to a Palm Pilot.  The Palm allows for immediate review in the field, while in the store a detailed printed report is generated.  The analyzer measures six separate components critical to a proper fly cast:  peak speed, casting arc, smoothness ratio, deceleration, stop, and rod load.  There are also several sub-catagories  such as creep, drift and symmetry.

Theodore Gordon Flyfishers

A great big thanks for making us a small business member as a result of our dedication to this organization for the last eight or so years.  Go to their website at www.tgf.org  to find out how you can get involved with critical issues involving out streams.  Applications for membership are available in the shop.

This is proving very successful and our students are becoming quite proficient. Go to instruction page to see full discussion of what the classes consist of and how to book with the shop.

We are offering casting instruction by a FFF Certified Instructor. Click here for more information.

WADER AND ROD RENTAL

We have these items available for rent in our store! Try out Simms or Sage on the river!

CASTING CATSKILL CANE-The Livingston Manor Rotary is sponsoring a get together on Saturday, April 1st from 9 a.m. to noon at the Livingston Manor High School Gym where those persons interested in casting classic cane rods will have the opportunity to do so.  There will be at least 30 cane rods to try out and if you have one of your own-bring it!!  If you've never cast one, come anyway and give them a try.  There will be rods for children to cast which means bring your kids and/or grandchildren.
